The Francis
One of the top boutique hotels in Portland Maine I personally recommend is The Francis. (You can read my full review here).
One of Congress Street’s shining gems, The Francis offers understated historical charm with an air of simplicity. With a lovely mix of bold colors and cool neutrals, the look at The Francis is one that feels somehow both classic and modern.
I loved my stay in this beautifully renovated 15-room mansion. A massive, comfortable bed welcomed me, with ample space in the sitting room and lovely balcony. (Ask for room 101, it’s awesome).
There is an onsite spa that offers a variety of treatments for a little extra pampering during your stay, but unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to partake during my visit. However, I deeply appreciated the hotel’s terrific West End location. It is perfect for so many fantastic things to see and do and only a 15 minute walk to Old Port.
Insider tip: During your stay, I recommend grabbing a breakfast at Hot Suppa, just a block down the street. My breakfast there was legitimately one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. Epic maple latte.
