Hungry? Let’s talk about where to find the very best breakfast in Rockport MA.

In today’s manic world, it can be a challenge to find the time to relax and enjoy a good breakfast. Our culture tends to be centered around dinner, simply due to the convenience of the timing. But, when you’re on vacation, or away for the weekend, breakfast is one of those fantastic luxuries that make your trip even more special.

I mean everyone knows that breakfast food is the best food. It’s basically dessert in disguise!

On the north shore of Massachusetts there is a special region known as Cape Ann or “The Other Cape.” The region consists of 4 coastal towns: Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, and Manchester By-The-Sea. Today, we are going to take a closer look at where you can find the best breakfast in Rockport MA.

Rockport Massachusetts Breakfast

Breakfast and Rockport go together like Jack and Diane, Copy & Paste or better yet, Donuts and Coffee.  Entering this quaint coastal village is like entering a time capsule. The town, originally a fishing village, turned quarry town turned artist enclave has charm in spades.

Everyone knows there are some fantastic Rockport MA Restaurants, especially if you’re on the hunt for fried clams or the perfect lobster roll. But very few people know where to get breakfast in Rockport. We think that this guide will help point you in the right direction.

The Best Spots for Breakfast in Rockport MA

The Red Skiff Restaurant – Small But Mighty

Dine like the locals, get breakfast at Red Skiff. The Red Skiff is an intimate 23 seat restaurant located in the heart of Rockport at 15 Mount Pleasant Street. The friendly staff at the Red Skiff serves breakfast all day as well as some delicious chowder, fried seafood, sandwiches and salads for lunch.

If you are looking to get your traditional breakfast fix with some bacon and eggs, French toast, an omelet, or a breakfast sandwich, The Red Skiff has you covered. For the more adventurous eaters, they also serve up some fantastic specials such as Lobster Benedict, Nutella and Bacon Pancakes, and a Chickpea Breakfast Bowl.

One must try during your visit to the Red Skiff is their famous Anadama Bread. This bread is the traditional bread of Rockport and is made of wheat flour, cornmeal and molasses. You can try it on its own or in Anadama Bread French toast!

While the food is delicious, perhaps the best part of the Red Skiff is that the staff is warm and welcoming. Always a great way to start the day.

Brothers’ Brew Coffee Shop – Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Another local staple in Rockport is Brothers’ Brew Coffee Shop. Owned and operated by the Brackett family (who also run the attached restaurant, Brackett’s Oceanview) Brothers’ Brew has become a local Rockport hub.

The shop features a diner-style coffee bar (with excellent coffee and espresso) as well as a variety of tables and nooks throughout the large dining space that provide some fantastic meeting spaces.

When you enter Brothers’ Brew you will notice that the baristas know the customers’ names and their orders. The welcoming nature and laid-back vibe of this establishment makes Brothers’ a perfect small slice of Rockport life.

On the menu you will find everything from salmon bagels to breakfast sandwiches to quiche, and a fantastic assortment of pastries that are all made in-house. Whether you are craving cinnamon rolls, scones or muffins, Brothers’ has you covered.

But the must try is definitely one of their creative donuts that change on a regular basis. A homemade donut and some delicious “Dark Sin” coffee should be just what the doctor ordered.

Feather and Wedge – The Right Breakfast Note

If you’re looking to ease into the day a little more slowly, brunch at Feather and Wedge may be your speed. From 10:30am to 2:00pm you can relax and enjoy some jazz music from local musicians while the Feather and Wedge kitchen and bar staff nurse you back to good health.

A fitting nod to Rockport’s rich quarrying past, Feather and Wedge is named after a tool used to split granite.  This casual fine dining restaurant is centrally located on main street, right by the Shalin Liu Performance Center.

The ever-evolving brunch menu at Feather and Wedge consists of dishes such as oysters, eggs benedict, corned beef hash, smoked salmon, quiche, waffles, breakfast sandwiches and more. Pair that with a tasty Bloody Mary or Mimosa and you are ready for action.

The Inns Of Rockport

One of our favorite things about Rockport is that there are no large commercial hotels or chain restaurants in town. All of the businesses are local, family-owned establishments and that holds true for the Inns of Rockport.

One of the best places to get a fantastic breakfast in Rockport is at one of the town’s many inns. They truly offer a fantastic staying experience where you can meet your fellow travelers, get to know the business owners and leave with a new set of friends. But, back to those breakfasts.

There are 2 things to a bed and breakfast – beds and breakfasts and Rockport Innkeepers take their breakfast seriously. Each Inn has its own style and specialty.

For example, the owner of the Tuck Inn, Scott Wood gets up early each morning to fresh bake breads and pastries. Tobey at the Linden Tree is known for her delicious Scones, and Addison Choate puts out some delicious treats like French Toast Souffle at their Rockport MA Hotel

No matter which inn you choose, you are sure to get treated to some fantastic hospitality and a delicious breakfast to set you off on the right foot.

Well, we hope that you found our exploration of the Best Breakfast in Rockport to be interesting and enjoyable. If you make it up to Cape Ann, do yourself a favor and try out one of these fantastic local favorites. The hospitality is truly second to none.
