In today’s manic world, it can be a challenge to find the time to relax and enjoy a good breakfast. Our culture tends to be centered around dinner, simply due to the convenience of the timing. But, when you’re on vacation, or away for the weekend, breakfast is one of those fantastic luxuries that make your trip even more special.
I mean everyone knows that breakfast food is the best food. It’s basically dessert in disguise!
On the north shore of Massachusetts there is a special region known as Cape Ann or “The Other Cape.” The region consists of 4 coastal towns: Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, and Manchester By-The-Sea. Today, we are going to take a closer look at where you can find the best breakfast in Rockport MA.
Rockport Massachusetts Breakfast
Breakfast and Rockport go together like Jack and Diane, Copy & Paste or better yet, Donuts and Coffee. Entering this quaint coastal village is like entering a time capsule. The town, originally a fishing village, turned quarry town turned artist enclave has charm in spades.
Everyone knows there are some fantastic Rockport MA Restaurants, especially if you’re on the hunt for fried clams or the perfect lobster roll. But very few people know where to get breakfast in Rockport. We think that this guide will help point you in the right direction.

The Red Skiff Restaurant – Small But Mighty
Dine like the locals, get breakfast at Red Skiff. The Red Skiff is an intimate 23 seat restaurant located in the heart of Rockport at 15 Mount Pleasant Street. For the more adventurous eaters, they also serve up some fantastic specials such as Lobster Benedict, Nutella and Bacon Pancakes, and a Chickpea Breakfast Bowl.
One must try during your visit to the Red Skiff is their famous Anadama Bread. This bread is the traditional bread of Rockport and is made of wheat flour, cornmeal and molasses. You can try it on its own or in Anadama Bread French toast!

On the menu you will find everything from salmon bagels to breakfast sandwiches to quiche, and a fantastic assortment of pastries that are all made in-house. Whether you are craving cinnamon rolls, scones or muffins, Brothers’ has you covered.
But the must try is definitely one of their creative donuts that change on a regular basis. A homemade donut and some delicious “Dark Sin” coffee should be just what the doctor ordered.

The Inns Of Rockport
One of our favorite things about Rockport is that there are no large commercial hotels or chain restaurants in town. All of the businesses are local, family-owned establishments and that holds true for the Inns of Rockport.
One of the best places to get a fantastic breakfast in Rockport is at one of the town’s many inns. They truly offer a fantastic staying experience where you can meet your fellow travelers, get to know the business owners and leave with a new set of friends. But, back to those breakfasts.
There are 2 things to a bed and breakfast – beds and breakfasts and Rockport Innkeepers take their breakfast seriously. Each Inn has its own style and specialty.
For example, the owner of the Tuck Inn, Scott Wood gets up early each morning to fresh bake breads and pastries. Tobey at the Linden Tree is known for her delicious Scones, and Addison Choate puts out some delicious treats like French Toast Souffle at their Rockport MA Hotel.
No matter which inn you choose, you are sure to get treated to some fantastic hospitality and a delicious breakfast to set you off on the right foot.
