Things to Do in Milford CT
Silver Sands State Park
If you’re looking for a great all-season place to enjoy Long Island Sound in Milford, head to Silver Sands State Park. During warm weather months, you can splash around in the Sound, and during low tide, you can even walk the exposed sand bar all the way out to Charles Island!
There’s also almost a mile of beautiful boardwalk to walk and take in those stellar sights any time of year, and a lovely woodland to explore as well. Silver Sands State Park is open year round for visitors.
Firehouse Gallery
Housed in a historic former fire station, the Firehouse Gallery is easy to find because the entire building is covered in a bright and colorful mural!
Inside you can find great local art exhibits, workshops, demonstrations, classes, and even interactive art experiences, located just two blocks from Long Island Sound. Keep this in mind if you’re looking for Milford things to do while it’s raining.
Gulf Beach
Known as Gulf Beach, you’ll find a lovely sandy beach that is the perfect spot to set up your towel on a hot summer’s day in Connecticut. The views of the Sound are the real scene stealer here, and you’ll often find people walking out along the fishing pier to enjoy summer sunsets over the water. There’s also a seasonal concession stand, picnic area, and restrooms, but be aware that there is a parking fee for out-of-town visitors during the summer months.
Connecticut Post Mall
Are you in the mood to shop? Milford is home to the largest mall in Connecticut, the Connecticut Post Mall. You’ll find all the usual shopping opportunities, but there are some cool things to do at this Milford mall other than shopping, too, like taking in a show at Pantochino, the professional theater located in the mall, and grabbing a sweet treat from Ice and Fire Ice Cream!
Beaver Brook
For a gorgeous walking trail in Milford, head to Beaver Brook. While it is privately owned, there is public access to this gorgeous scenic loop along 41 acres of fresh water marsh and its namesake, the Beaver Brook canal. Click here for a map and more info on where to park.
The Coastal Audubon Center at Milford Point
The Coastal Center at Milford Point is an 8-acre bird sanctuary, wildlife refuge, and nature center. You’ll find an exhibit room, lookout tower, nature store, and lovely walking trails where you can enjoy this peaceful spot on the Sound.
Walnut Beach
One of Milford’s most popular beaches, Walnut Beach offers a great sandy stretch of beach, nearby places to shop and eat, and every year they host a free summer concert series under the Devon Rotary Pavilion, so if you’re visiting Milford CT in the summer and looking for a great place to spend a summer afternoon, Walnut Beach is a great choice!
Grab a quick latte from Walnut Beach Coffee Shop before you head out, and you’ll really be set.
Eat at Stonebridge Restaurant
One of the most popular places to eat in Milford Connecticut is Stonebridge Restaurant, where you can enjoy steaks, pasta, and of course, seafood. Deck and patio dining allows you gorgeous views of the Wepawaug River waterfall, and there are regular live music and festival events happening at Stonebridge throughout the year, too!

Milford Performance Center

Milford Historical Society
Milford is a New England town with a long history, and the Milford Historical Society is the place to go to see some of this carefully preserved history. You can tour three Colonial-era homes that were built between 1700 and 1785, including the Eells-Stow House, believed to be the oldest house in Milford.
Anchor Beach
This lovely Milford beach has a paved walking path that runs near the water with a scenic lookout point that is perfect for spending a little time enjoying seaside views. There are rocky outcroppings and rocky islands visible at Anchor beach as well, making this a popular spot for photography.
Milford Green
Said to be one of the longest and most beautiful historic greens in all of New England, the Milford Green is beautifully landscaped and features a classic gazebo, war memorials, and plenty of space to walk. It’s a lovely place to explore on a nice day. There are many Milford events held there throughout the year, including Artisan Markets, a Spring Fair, and more.
Downtown Milford
There are so many great things to do in downtown Milford! Not only is it one of those great New England downtowns where there’s eye candy everywhere you turn, including Milford Duck Pond and its gorgeous waterfall, but you’ll also find great places to shop, eat, and drink in downtown Milford, too. For a lovely cafe experience, Cafe Atlantique offers espresso and crepes in the morning, and wine and crepes at night in downtown Milford. There are lots of great Milford things to do downtown!
Route 1/Boston Post Road
If downtown Milford didn’t have enough for you in the way of restaurants, cafes, and shops, head to Route 1, also known as Boston Post Road, and you’ll have oh so many options for places to eat, drink, and shop, including any major box store brands you might be looking for!
Eastbound Theatre
See what’s happening onstage at Eastbound Theatre, the community theater that operates under the umbrella of the Milford Arts Council, the same group that runs Firehouse Gallery. You’ll find theater productions, musical performances, and other art events happening onstage at this cute theater in downtown Milford!
